EVERY DALB WOMAN HAS A UNIQUE STORY TO TELL

SUCCESS, CHALLENGES AND STYLE FROM REMARKABLE WOMEN

Sînziana Năstase is a charming woman with a passion for everything retro and romantic. She likes to shop local and think global. Moreover, she found the recipe for joy: staying faithful to little pleasures in key moments of the day.

ON HER STUDIES AND REACHING HER GOALS

I was never an ambitious person, and I did not have my professional goals mapped out like other people I know. However, no matter the job I was doing and if I liked it or not, I tried to do the best and really put to use my abilities. And in my current job, I think curiosity is a key element and, as one of my former managers once said, I am not lacking in that department. I think it is important to find joy in what you are doing, not necessarily adore your job or feel like you are not working (I don’t believe in that, no matter how passionate you are, work is work). I, for one, tried to find a field where I know what we do really makes a difference and we are, at the end of the day, genuinely helping people, even by just understanding their needs.

ON HER MOST POWERFUL ADVICE FOR OTHER WOMEN

Give up! When you feel it is time, when it no longer brings anything worthwhile for you, give it up! A bad habit, old clothes which no longer fit, people with whom you no longer resonate, a job that no longer brings any joy…

''When I want more confidence but also to emanate feminine energy, I wear strong colours''

ON BALANCING HER PROFESSIONAL LIFE AND HER HOBBIES

I make time. I am lucky: I can do my job almost anytime I wish, as long as it is done, and I can go with 6-7 hours of sleep. Joke aside, the way I work, in “waves” and a bit (more) procrastination, helps me a lot: I have downtime when I can focus on personal things and content creation and more intense moments when I just focus on work. But that is also because this is how I am constructed, and I make it work for me. I think it is important to create time for the things that matter outside of work, even if you feel you do not have the time. I would rather sleep less and read more from a book I like or wake up earlier to go for a coffee outside in the morning because I know these will make me feel better.

ON HER STYLE EVOLUTION

Ever since I was a child, I was surrounded by a group of stylish women - my two grandmothers, my mum and my aunt - and they all instilled in me a little of their own style. I had my rebellious teenage years, cutting my hair short, wearing baggy clothes, but my feminine side won, and I started discovering the beauty of a cinched waist and full skirt dress, vintage inspired silhouettes and beautiful accessories. Now I own a lot of vintage and vintage inspired dresses and they also taught me a lot about what I want in a garment: the beautiful seams (even in hand-made products), the perfect fit (my body type is working better with the 40s and 50s silhouette, and with my first dresses from that era I discovered how important it is for the waist to be where it should and the size to be correct, not even a couple of centimetres more), amazing fabrics and beautiful prints.

ON ONE LADY WITH AN IMPECCABLE SENSE OF STYLE

My paternal grandmother. I still have a few of her dresses and I feel that I resonate the most with her style. She was not afraid of more risqué choices, she wore black because she liked it, not just for funerals, and she was passionate about being surrounded by beautiful objects, some of which I now have in my home.

ON USING COLORS FOR CONFIDENCE BOOSTING

I would first like to speak about noncolors, black, to be more specific. Black makes me feel confident and powerful and really incites my imagination. I can look at something black and my creative juices are flowing.

When I want more confidence but also emanate feminine energy, I wear strong colours, I recently discovered my go to ones are a deep, emerald green and a very bold combination of fuchsia and magenta.

ON HER GO-TO LOOK FOR THE SUMMER

A dress! Something flowy, a natural material is a must. I need to feel like the wind is hugging me, as crazy as that might sound. Long flowy dresses, palazzo pants and oversized shirts are my uniform.

ON KEY DETAILS TO LOOK FOR WHEN SHOPPING ONLINE

Fabric composition, cut (where do the stiches go, would they work on my body type, how high is the waist etc), model sizes to see if it could work on me as well. And where it was made - this is not something I can always stick to, as I am guilty of shopping mass market from time to time, but I am much happier when I can shop locally, when I know that the price I pay for the object will return to the local economy.

ON A DALB PIECE THAT SHE COULD WEAR YEARS FROM NOW

I would say the SKYLINE wide-leg trousers, I have been wearing wide leg trousers for the past 15 years and I intend to continue wearing them.
