EVERY DALB WOMAN HAS A UNIQUE STORY TO TELL
SUCCESS, CHALLENGES AND STYLE FROM REMARKABLE WOMEN
Olimpia Melinte is one of those rare people whose presence lingers long after the screen fades to black. Warm, grounded, and deeply expressive, she brings not just talent but heart into every role she plays. Whether in front of the camera or away from it, Olimpia is thoughtful, honest, and refreshingly real.
''Even as a child, I felt that stories had the power to bring people closer, and acting seemed like the most direct way to explore and share that.''
ON WHAT INITIALLY DREW HER TO ACTING AND ON THE KEY MOMENTS THAT HAVE MOST MARKED HER ARTISTIC JOURNEY TO DATE
What initially drew me to acting was the joy of being on stage, but over time I've discovered other nuances of this profession, such as a curiosity about people and the need to understand human emotions and behaviors. Even as a child, I felt that stories had the power to bring people closer, and acting seemed like the most direct way to explore and share that.
Key moments include my first important film role and meeting directors and colleagues who understood my desire to grow and challenged me with different projects and situations.
''I like playing women who aren't necessarily "likable" but who are real, contradictory, just as we often are.''
ON THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES SHE'S ENCOUNTERED IN THE ACTING PROFESSION AND ON HOW SHE OVERCAME THEM
One of the biggest challenges I've encountered was learning to be patient – with myself, with the process, with the industry. At first, I wanted everything to happen quickly, but I came to understand that depth, structure, and method are built over time, and the reality is that you never stop learning.
Then, confronting the insecurity and frequent rejections that are part of the job description, which I've learned not to take personally anymore – although that was a very arduous process.
I overcame all challenges through constant work, therapy, and close people who kept me grounded.
ON WHAT ATTRACTS HER TO A SCRIPT OR A CHARACTER AND ON THE TYPES OF STORIES THAT SHE FEELS A SPECIAL NEED TO TELL
I'm drawn to scripts that tell uncomfortable truths, that don't idealize characters but show them in all their complexity. I like playing women who aren't necessarily "likable" but who are real, contradictory, just as we often are.
I feel a special need to tell stories about fragility, about the mother-child relationship, about guilt, psychological dimensions that border on pathology, and about forgiveness.
ON HOW SHE FINDS BALANCE BETWEEN HER PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE IN SUCH A DEMANDING FIELD AS ACTING
I find my balance with difficulty, though it's something I constantly aim for. Family and close friends are my anchor. I try to maintain a few simple routines, no matter how busy a period is: a quiet coffee in the morning, exercise – at home, even among toys, a few pages read in the evening, or a short walk without my phone. I've always wanted to have a space just for myself, even during hectic periods, and most of the time I've managed it.
''I'm inspired by sincere people, those who live with passion and aren't afraid of failures.''
ON WHAT THE CONCEPT OF WELL-BEING MEANS TO HER, BEYOND PHYSICAL HEALTH, AND ON HOW SHE PRIORITIZES IT IN HER DAILY ROUTINE
Well-being, for me, means being present in what I do, not feeling torn between social roles and on-set identities. It's when I can say "no" without guilt, when I listen to my body and emotions, and not just my agenda or plans. I try to prioritize this through moments of quietness, through a somewhat balanced diet, through exercise and through therapy, which has become an essential tool for me in recent years.
ON THE IMPORTANT LESSONS SHE'S LEARNED ABOUT LIFE THROUGH THE CHARACTERS SHE'S PLAYED AND THE PROJECTS SHE'S BEEN INVOLVED IN
I've learned that I can't control everything and that it's okay not to have all the answers. Characters have taught me true empathy – the kind where you don't judge but try to understand deeply. I've also learned that vulnerability isn't weakness, but strength. That we can make mistakes and still remain dignified. And that, sometimes, you need to get a little lost in order to find yourself more authentically.
ON WHAT INSPIRES HER IN HER DAILY LIFE, BOTH PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY
I'm inspired by sincere people, those who live with passion and aren't afraid of failures. Professionally, I'm inspired by visionary directors, as well as actors who transform vulnerability into strength.
In my personal life – there are the deep friendships, the people who care for each other or the quiet generosity that inspire me.
ON HOW HER PROFESSION INFLUENCES HER FASHION CHOICES AND ON HOW SHE USES FASHION AS A FORM OF PERSONAL EXPRESSION
I believe my profession has taught me to view clothes as an extension of a character — including in daily life. I let myself be guided by how I feel at the moment. Sometimes I choose simple, minimalist pieces; other times I feel the need for an extravagant or unexpected detail. I love jewelry and the way it can shape an outfit. Fashion is a form of expression, a state, an emotion worn.
ON HOW SHE DEFINES FEMININITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE 21st CENTURY
Femininity, for me, means the freedom to be exactly who you are, without trying to conform to a label. Being strong doesn't mean being rigid or cold, but allowing yourself to feel, to have boundaries, to fall and to rise. Delicacy is a form of power in itself.
ON HOW SHE INTEGRATES THE PRINCIPLES OF QUALITY, DESIGN AND DURABILITY INTO BUILDING HER WARDROBE
I like to choose well-made, durable pieces made from natural materials that I can wear for years. I don't have a huge wardrobe, but I try to give it coherence and build it meaningfully.
I'm more and more drawn to the idea of "less but better."
''I believe clothes can help us feel comfortable, more present, more authentic. ''
ON WHAT ATTRACTED HER TO THE DALB OUTFITS THAT SHE'S CHOSEN AND ON HOW SHE'S FELT WEARING THEM
The DALB outfits attracted me with their apparent simplicity and impeccable lines. I felt effortlessly elegant, feminine. DALB has the kind of pieces that don't "shout," but stand out through the charm of their shapes or the sobriety of their structure.
ON HOW CLOTHING AND ESPECIALLY A PIECE WITH A DISTINCTIVE DESIGN AND IMPECCABLE CUT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO A WOMAN'S SELF-CONFIDENCE
I believe clothes can help us feel comfortable, more present, more authentic. A well-tailored piece that fits you perfectly has a subtle but powerful effect – it doesn't transform you, but it aligns you with the best version of yourself.
ON THE ADVICE SHE WOULD OFFER TO YOUNG WOMEN ASPIRING TO A CAREER IN ACTING OR ANY ARTISTIC FIELD
I would tell them not to rush. Not to try to please everyone and not to be afraid of rejection – it's part of the journey. To listen to their inner voice, even when it seems uncertain. Authenticity isn't about always being "original," but about being true to yourself.
ON THE ADVICE SHE WOULD LIKE TO CONVEY TO OUR DALB COMMUNITY
I would tell the women who watch or read me to trust their own pace. Not to confuse stillness with stagnation and to allow themselves to be imperfect. That inspiration isn't a rare moment, but a daily choice to live with meaning, with joy, and with kindness towards oneself.
